Proof of Concept
Rapidly Web-enable Legacy Applications
Compuflex International, maker of the WebAccel® Framework, in partnership with Denver Solutions Group and Viaserv, is now offering an aggressive, highly effective Proof of Concept package to qualified mid-tier IBM® zSeries™ customers. The package is specifically designed to enable these organizations to rapidly and successfully Web-enable existing zSeries applications, through the use of IBM Linux for OS/390® and IBM WebSphere® offerings.
Using the proven combination of products and services offered in the Proof of Concept package, customers can Web-enable existing host applications and become productive with WebSphere in a fraction of the time required with other approaches. The environment allows creation of Java® Web applications up to 5 times faster than competitive offerings, and supports easy access to IBM DB2®, VSAM, and IBM IMS™ data, or direct calls to IBM CICS® transactions from Web applications.
For qualified customers, the Proof of Concept is offered on a no-charge basis, making it easier than ever for zSeries sites to directly experience the benefits and power of Web-enabling legacy applications.
This risk-free package provides a complete suite of demonstration software products, and the required technology consulting services needed to implement and conduct the Proof of Concept at the customer’s site. In some instances, demonstration hardware can be included as well.
During the Proof of Concept, the vendor team will perform the following tasks:
*Approximately two weeks of on-site consulting and mentoring assistance from our Web-enablement experts, completing all steps of the Proof of Concept program.
*Install and configure a Linux partition on the customer’s zSeries platform.
*Install and configure IBM WebSphere Application Server on the zSeries platform.
*Provide, install and configure demonstration copies of Compuflex’s WebAccel, Viaserv’s ViaSQL™ Direct and other related products as required to fully develop the Proof of Concept application.
*Work with the customer’s staff to develop a small Proof of Concept demonstration application, Web-enabling existing mainframe data and/or transactions. This effort provides ‘hands-on’ experience for the customer’s IT staff, working directly with our Web-enablement consultants.
*Collaborate with the customer’s IT staff to review the possible architectural options for development and implementation of a company-wide Web application infrastructure, resulting in an optimized recommendation.
*Provide a complete written proposal of our recommendations, including detailed pricing for all required components.
The customer’s responsibility for the Proof of Concept is to provide our consultants with access to the necessary systems, and to participate in the project in order to gain ‘hands-on’ experience with the tools. This should include staff knowledgeable regarding your mainframe systems, as well as those you would like to participate in further Web-enablement development activities.
After the Proof of Concept program is complete, the customer may, at its option, elect to proceed with implementation of the recommended strategies. If and only if the customer elects to proceed with a WebSphere application server implementation and/or any of the related technologies proposed by our team within 6 months from the completion of the Proof of Concept, the customer agrees that :
*Customer will procure needed products and technology consulting services from the vendor team providing this service, based on competitive price quotations.
*Customer agrees to compensate the vendor team for consulting services provided during the Proof of Concept consulting period (based on a fixed-fee proposal provided prior to commencement).
If the customer elects not to proceed with a WebSphere implementation, the customer agrees to allow our consultants access to de-install all trial products, and has no financial liability whatsoever.
We are very excited about the potential for this program, because it has proven to demonstrate the power, speed and flexibility of a comprehensive Web-enablement strategy.
